Let’s all agree on one thing; getting in to see a doctor when we need it most is a pain in the ass. They’re already booked up for 2-3 weeks, the ER’s take the least sick first, and god help ya if you need a specialist. So, I get it, that in a time of need we’d resort to Googling our symptoms. While this post is meant to be funny, I will concede that there have been a lot of times that we, as patients, have been more attentive and thorough with our health and research, then our own doctors. I’m not knocking doctors, but I find that they live under the “if you hear hoofbeats, think horses not zebras” philosophy.
Well doc, it is a fucking zebra. I’ve been in that position, that if I hadn’t been on WebMD and Google, the doc would have missed something serious, because it was too rare to occur to him. So I say, do your Googling, but also use common sense, folks.
