Joshua Browder recently shared a text exchange between a tenant and landlord that has since gone viral and placed the landlord in some serious legal trouble.
In the screen-capped conversation, the landlord texts the tenant to ask if any of the stimulus payment the tenant received will go towards paying rent. How does the landlord even know the tenant received their check? Because the landlord used the tenant’s social security number to check their funds. Now there are two big oopsies here the landlord didn’t consider:
1. using someone’s social security number without their permission is highly illegal
2. the landlord just admitted to committing said illegal activity via text message
The exchange is now blowing up on twitter with over 23K retweets and 134K likes.
