Growing up, I couldn’t help but vandalize the textbooks and pamphlets I’d been given at school with all kinds of vulgar doodles. My trusty ballpoint pen would bless Marie Curie with a mustache and sunglasses. Roosevelt’s wheelchair was retrofitted with rocket boosters. And the smiling teen giving a thumbs-up as he told us to avoid drugs got an impossibly-large penis aimed straight at his face.
Inappropriate? Yes. Childish? Absolutely. But I also found it hilarious. Still do. Which is why the impressive artwork over on the Baseball Card Vandals Instagram page struck a chord with me. According to their bio, they make “Decent jokes on worthless cards, posted fresh daily” — you can even buy each card at their store.
